GPT-6 and Intelligent UI: what ChatGPT's change means for you
OpenAI's latest ChatGPT update lets the chatbot reply with charts, forms and buttons you can use, not only paragraphs of text.
The answer
OpenAI launched GPT-6 in ChatGPT, letting it answer with interactive interfaces such as charts, forms and calculators.
OpenAI has launched GPT-6 in ChatGPT, along with a feature called Intelligent UI. Instead of replying only with text, ChatGPT can now build a small interactive tool inside the conversation, such as a chart, a form or a calculator.
What happened
OpenAI announced GPT-6 with Intelligent UI on 7 October 2026. Tech Startups described the feature as "a new way for ChatGPT to respond with interactive interfaces rather than conventional text alone."
In practice, that means ChatGPT can reply with charts, forms, buttons and calculators. Example uses include:
- explaining bicycle components
- building a personal wardrobe
- splitting a restaurant bill
- creating a financial calculator
OpenAI also gave a speed figure. According to the company's internal testing, GPT-6 Instant starts answering about 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant on questions that need web searches. That is OpenAI's own measurement, not an independent test.
OpenAI says more than 1.2 billion people use ChatGPT every week.
What it means for you
If you use ChatGPT, some answers may come as something you can click or adjust, not just read. Splitting a bill, for example, is the kind of task where a calculator in the chat could be handier than a paragraph of sums.
The speed claim is also relevant if you often ask questions that need ChatGPT to search the web. OpenAI says answers to those should start sooner with GPT-6 Instant. How much difference you notice may vary, since the figure is an average from OpenAI's own tests.
The update applies to ChatGPT only. It does not cover the models used in Work and Codex.
The notes available so far do not say whether the features differ between plans, or whether pricing has changed.
How to try it
Rollout began on 7 October for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users. Free and Go users were scheduled to receive it on 8 October.
Open ChatGPT and ask for something that suits an interactive answer, such as a bill splitter or a financial calculator. If you don't see the update yet, check back, as rollouts can reach accounts at different times.
