OpenAI models on Google Cloud: what it means for you
OpenAI and Google Cloud said OpenAI's frontier models and Codex agentic workflows are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden.
The answer
OpenAI's frontier models and Codex workflows are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden, announced 21 October.
OpenAI's most advanced AI models are on their way to Google's cloud platform. If your workplace builds on Google Cloud, you may soon be able to use OpenAI's tools without leaving it.
What happened
On Wednesday 21 October 2026, OpenAI and Google Cloud announced that OpenAI's frontier models (its most advanced AI systems) and Codex agentic workflows are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden. Model Garden is the catalogue where Google Cloud customers find and use AI models. "Agentic" workflows are ones where the AI carries out multi-step tasks rather than just answering a single question.
According to PYMNTS, Google Cloud customers will be able to buy the models there. They will get "native access" for complex agentic workflows at scale, backed by Google Cloud's data governance and infrastructure.
Access through Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent is "soon to come", the report says. The two companies pitch the deal as "model choice flexibility and the best model for each task" for enterprises. The report names no specific models.
What it means for you
This is aimed at businesses, not individual users. If your employer already runs on Google Cloud, it could buy OpenAI models through the same platform it already uses, rather than setting up a separate arrangement.
Some things are not yet known. The source gave no pricing, no list of models and no launch dates, so it is unclear when anyone could start using them or what they would cost.
The deal also fits a wider pattern. PYMNTS, citing Reuters, says Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian has said the platform welcomes any model popular with developers. It adds that big cloud providers are becoming the main commercial channels for AI labs, and typically take a percentage of sales. Rival Anthropic got 47% of its 2025 revenue from Amazon's and Google's cloud platforms, according to its IPO filing, as cited by Reuters via PYMNTS.
What happens next
Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent access is the next step the companies have pointed to, though without a date. Until pricing, the model list and launch timing are published, there is nothing to sign up for yet. If you use Google Cloud at work, your account team or administrator is the place to ask once availability is confirmed.
