Meta wants one AI assistant to follow you everywhere: on your phone, your glasses, your laptop, even a keychain. At its Connect 2026 event on 23 September, the company put its AI agent Muse at the centre of nearly everything it makes, with chief executive Mark Zuckerberg framing it as the start of what he calls "personal superintelligence".

## What happened

Muse is Meta's AI agent, first launched on 8 September in the US, Canada and Mexico through the iPhone and Android apps, the muse.ai website, and WhatsApp. An AI agent is a system that doesn't just answer questions but can go and do things for you, like an assistant that books your travel or fills out a form. Muse runs on a Meta model called Muse Spark and, the company says, has already reached millions of users.

At Connect, Meta announced Muse is expanding well beyond phones:

- It's coming to Meta's AI glasses in the coming months, activated by saying its name, and able to act on whatever the wearer is looking at, such as logging a meal, guiding a workout or booking an appointment.
- It's coming to Mac computers, where it can operate desktop apps and keep working even after you step away.
- A new device called Muse Charm, a small keychain with a screen showing the agent's avatar, lets people carry Muse without a phone. Meta says more details will come later in 2026.

Meta also added an advanced voice mode that lets you design how Muse sounds, a "Realtime Avatar" model for live video chats with the agent, and said Muse will get its own email address soon. Privacy is handled through what Meta calls a Muse Secure VM, a private, per-user cloud computer that runs the agent's tasks.

Zuckerberg said: "I expect that Muse is going to grow into the personal superintelligence that billions of people around the world are going to use."

## What it means for you

Muse is free to use for a large number of tokens (the units of text an AI system processes). Zuckerberg said the plan is to make money later by taking "a small fee from transactions" when Muse books or buys something on your behalf.

Muse can now connect to more real-world services, including Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora, Wayfair, Gap, Shop Pay, PayPal, Expedia, Instacart, Notion, Granola, GitHub and Box. Meta's chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, said more than 1,500 developers applied to build new connectors in under a week, and hinted at a new model from Meta Superintelligence Labs coming soon.

Not everyone is on board: Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on its site, saying the agent's access breaks Amazon's terms of service.

## How to try it

Muse is already available in the US, Canada and Mexico via iOS, Android, muse.ai and WhatsApp. If you want to try the glasses version, Meta's Adventurer glasses go on sale 23 October from $249, and the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses ship 13 October at $349. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 costs $449, and the Ray-Ban Meta Display, at $799, is expanding to the UK, Canada, France, Italy and Germany. A hearing-enhancement feature for Meta's glasses, cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration, arrives in the US later in 2026 for $149.99. Meta's VR Glasses, weighing about 100 grams, are due in spring 2027 at $1,299.99.
